Continuing on the topic of autism awareness, we wanted to also be sure to share some autism resources in our area if you or someone you know could use some support. We have compiled a list of many different types of programs available here in West Michigan. Many programs are offering virtual and in-person services, please call to confirm. - Autism Support of Kent County - Provides a variety of supports for families and individuals affected by autism. They provide socialization groups, music therapy, fun family events, support groups for parents and much, much more. They also have a more extensive list of community resources available as well as some great video resources on their community resources page.

- Family Tree Therapies - Provides speech, occupational, and feeding therapy. They also provide online courses, a parent communication course, and a reading program.

- Comprehensive Therapy Center - Non-profit therapy center offering speech and occupational therapy as well dance movement, sensory, and play therapy. The offer summer programs, a story time, tutoring and more. They can also provide consults or contract out to help in your school or other agency where special needs services may be limited.

- Heart for the Arts - Art therapy services with special needs in mind. Their services are available for all abilities and art materials are included in the cost of class fees. In addition to their studio, they also have mobile services for groups.

- Arts in Motion - Specializing in adaptive instruction for individuals with varying abilities and ages. They offer year-round programming, with both private and group classes. Provides a variety of artistic classes such as dance, writing, music, drama and more. They also having a traveling dance group which you can contact to have them preform for your school or event.

- Growing Roots - Nature-based therapeutic activities that promote skill building and learning while helping individuals develop meaning and purpose. Growing Roots is a learning and living facility/farm. They provide 4 core programs that focus on different skill sets, they are: vocational, pre-vocational, habilitative, and recreational.

- Early On - Assists families with infants and toddlers, from birth until 36 months, who have a delay in their development or a diagnosed disability. They provide evaluations for your child’s development and if they qualify, they will create a plan and provide services and support to help your child reach their full potential.

- Head Start for Kent County - Early childhood education services, provided at no cost with home visiting for ages 0-3 and preschool available for ages 3-5. Though not explicitly an autism service provider, Head Start can connect your enrolled child to their local school districts special needs program which can then help with evaluations and developing Individualized Education Plans and Individualized Family Service Plans which will work in conjunction with your child's general education setting at Head Start.

- Hope Network - Has a multi-disciplinary team of experts specialized in treating learners on the autism spectrum as young as 18-months-old. This includes a neuropsychologist, behavior analysts, behavior technicians, speech therapists, and social workers who provide support and advocacy, giving those they serve a wrap-around model of care.

- Merakey Autism Center - Offers diagnostic & individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and adolescents with the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other related disorders. Individual ABA therapy includes: center and/or telehealth therapy, 1:1 staff to client ratios, strength based programming, systems of reinforcement, targeted skills based upon individual need, and much more.

- MOKA - A nonprofit that has been serving our community since 1979, and has been growing ever since. They have locations throughout West Michigan, and offer an array of services. MOKA has an ABA autism program, residential homes, community living services, and employment support programs.

- Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) - Part of one of the largest ABA centers in the country. ABA therapies offered in home or in office, current availability is for in-home services only, with some weekend availability. To start the admissions process call the number below.

- Paws With A Cause - Paws With A Cause dog for an autistic child can help children improve their social skills and relationships, expand communication skills, increase interest in activities, and ease stress within the family. Paws dogs are well trained and they work with each client to match them with the best dog. Their open enrollment period ends April 30 and re-opens again next January.

- Network180 - Provides support coordination which can help determine what services are important for, develop a support plan, and link you to other services and resources. They also offer support services which include assessments and treatment monitoring. Other services include skill building and employment support.
